ABOUT

C.S. Pearce has been writing about religious and ethical issues, public affairs, and natural science since 1992 for Southern California magazines, books, and newspapers. Most recently she was the director of media relations for Claremont School of Theology and its launch of its inter-religious graduate program, formerly associated with Claremont Lincoln University. This We Believe: The Christian Case for Gay Marriage was her first faith-related book. Her previous books include The World-Famous San Diego Zoo, which sold 90,000 copies, Great Zoos of the United States: The San Diego Zoo, and a book on the Zoo's botanical collections.

Before becoming a writer, she spent more than a decade as a programmer, systems analyst, and project leader in the computer industry. She received her journalism training from San Diego State University, her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from University of California, Irvine, and her MBA from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The honors she has received for her magazine stories include awards from the San Diego Press Club, the Society of Professional Journalists, the National Conference Human Relations Media Award, and San Diego’s Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation
A Humanist, she is married to a Mennonite public health doctor who spends a few weeks in Africa most summers doing AIDS work. Her areas of activism include the environment, science literacy, LGBTI civil rights, and pluralism.
